Membership Information

The Lower Rio Grande Public Water Works Authority is a member-owned community water system and a political subdivision of the State of New Mexico.

In order to become a Member, a person must own property within the Authority's Service Area and receive service from us.  Membership applications and many other documents, policies and forms are available to download here on the Documents page, including information and forms for arranging for service for renters.

The Authority is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors elected by the Members by districts.  See the Board of Directors page for more information. 

It is important for Members to keep their contact and property information up to date in our files.  Please let us know if you transfer property ownership and bring in a copy of the current deed.

Billing Date:   1st of the month

Due Date:       25th of the month

Late Penalty: 3 p.m 25th of the month

                      (15% of overdue amount)

Delinquency Deadline: 3 p.m. on the 15th of the next month ($50 delinquency fee)

Payment Options

Customers in the South Valley may pay their utility bills at any of our South Valley offices or may remit their bill to the following address:

Customers on the East Mesa may pay their utility bills at East Mesa office or may remit their bill to the above address
 
Bills can be paid by cash, check or money order at our office locations (office addresses and directions are below) during business hours. Credit or debit cards are accepted at our Mesquite office. The fee is $2.00 per transaction in the office.  Credit card fees for online or automated phone payment systems are $1.25 per transaction.
 
See the column at the right for online credit card payment information. Payments made at our online payment site are immediately credited to your account and funds are paid to us electronically. If you pay online from your bank's website or another online payment site, be aware that they will be mailing us a check and allow several days for that.

Bills can be paid by check or money order at the payment drop-boxes at our office locations (see directions below). Please do NOT send cash in the mail or leave cash payments in the drop-boxes. If you are trying to meet the disconnect deadline, please pay at one of our offices to ensure your account is credited in time.

Payments received after 3:00 p.m. will be posted the next day.

If you have a complaint with respect to the customer service provided by our staff, please follow this procedure:

1.   Customer should write down the location, date and time the incident occurred.  All phone calls and customer interactions at pay windows are recorded, so this information will assist in investigating the complaint.  Customer may remain anonymous if desired.

The Mesquite office is now equipped to accept credit card payments (Visa, Mastercard & Discover).  Because we are a political subdivision of the State of NM, we are required to charge a convenience fee to recover our costs for providing this service.  The fee is $2.00 per transaction.  If usage warrants, this service may be extended to our other offices.

Fraud Alert - Brazito Area

We have been informed by several residents in Brazito that a woman has approached them to collect money and paperwork for the sewer project.  This person is NOT affiliated with the LRGPWWA in any way.  If you are approached by the person, please call the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department at 575-526-0795, and please contact our office at 575-233-5742 and let us know.
Email Scam Alert

The City of Las Cruces is warning residents about an email scam where utility customers are contacted by email requesting payment of their bills.  If you receive such an email, please be aware that we do not ever send you emails requesting bill payment.
